Why Drinking Kombucha Tea Could be Disaster?
Kombucha tea has been popular in other countries for a very long time, and now it is becoming popular in the UK as well.
They make Kombucha tea by simply taking a colony of yeast and bacteria and placing it in green or black teas along with sugar and letting it ferment. The liquid that comes out contains B vitamins, acetic acid, and other chemicals. Usually, Kombucha tea is made from a starter sample that comes from an existing culture, and then a new colony is grown in another jar.
Some of the health benefits of this tea are claimed to be a healthier immune system, the prevention of some cancers, and improved liver and digestive function.
Like with other dietary supplement, it is important to do research to determine if there is real evidence that supports any of the health claims made. The claims for Kombucha tea are derived from personal accounts, studies on animals and lab studies. There haven’t yet been any human trials done yet, so there isn’t any direct evidence to support the health benefits listed.
Kombucha Side Effects:
There have been some reports that people using the tea have had allergic reactions and stomach upset. There have also been some reports of people experiencing metabolic acidosis and toxic reactions. Also, the FDA says that the risk of contamination is rather high because Kombucha tea is often made in a non-sterile environment.
Since there isn’t any real evidence that the health claims it boasts are being delivered, and since there has been some harm reported, until there is scientific evidence that it provides health benefits, it is best to avoid it.
